The Indian Environmental Society is implementing a Programme entitled “Socio-Economic and Environmental Up-gradation of CTC Neighbourhood Community Programme” under Public Participation and Awareness component of Yamuna Action Plan Phase – II (YAP – II) in NIT Area of Project Town Faridabad.

The overall aim of the programme is to motivate the community people (living nearby to the existing CTC) in order to understand the importance of CTC for a better health and hygienic condition of their area.

Objectives of the Programme

The main objectives of the programme are as follows:

  1. To sensitize and aware community members on Health, hygiene and sanitation practices through behavioral change communication methods.
  2. To up grade the Socio economic status of the Society by developing income generation opportunities.
  3. To sensitize and mobilize community for effective and optimum utilization of CTCs and other sanitation facilities.
  4. To develop community capacities on issues related to operation and maintenance of CTCs and other sanitation facilities.
  5. To involve local councilors, RWAs, and all-important stakeholders in mobilizing community for the community hygiene and sanitation practices.
  6. To establish networking and linkages with relevant development institutions/organizations and other stakeholders of the society.
  7. To motivate people to create environment for prevention and management of pollution in and around CTCs and neighborhood community.
  8. To encourage community in creating a peoples movement for making the surrounding area a zero pollution zone.
  9. To create a sense of ownership among community for the CTCs and sanitation facilities, and focus on sustainability issues.
